Making a Difference Every Day
I feel fortunate to practice dentistry. Each day I have the opportunity to make a lasting, positive difference in people’s lives. My patients are more than patients to me; they are friends and members of my extended family. I spend my days helping people I care about develop healthy smiles they love. What could be better?
I’ve been practicing in Vernon Hills for more than 35 years. It’s an honor to be caring for the dental health of the children and grandchildren of my first patients now. It’s also an amazing feeling to be trusted with the smiles of multiple generations. I take that trust seriously and strive to exceed each person’s expectations each time I see them.
I look forward to seeing my patients. I want to assess their oral health and make sure everything is looking great, and I want to catch up on their lives, too. I enjoy hearing about their families and travels, their successes at school and work, and their hobbies. Being included in their lives is perhaps the best part of being a dentist. I truly cannot imagine a more fulfilling profession.
Education and Continuing Education
- Bachelor’s degree – St. Mary’s University of Minnesota
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery – Loyola University of Chicago School of Dentistry
I believe that, in order to provide my patients with the best possible care, I must work work to learn the latest and best dental techniques. Each year I complete many hours of continuing dental education: honing my skills and expanding my knowledge.
Ours is a constantly changing profession. New techniques, materials, and technologies all mean better care and results. My patients deserve the best, and continuing education ensures they are not disappointed.
I’ve studied with the L.D. Pankey Institute, as well as the Seattle Study Club and the Pride Institute. In addition, by attending and participating in conferences, lectures, and seminars, I remain current on changes in dentistry. I’ve completed courses on a wide range of topics, including Invisalign® clear aligners and sleep apnea.

I was born in New Jersey and moved to Deerfield when I started high school. I recently moved to Mundelein, after living in Vernon Hills since 1980. Janet, my wife, is also my dental hygienist here at the practice. We have three daughters, one of whom is married. We have one grandson and another grandchild due in April 2016. Our daughters all live in North Carolina.
When I’m not working, I enjoy playing golf and I work out several times a week. I’ve recently started walking in the forest preserves in Lake County and also enjoy casual bike rides, when the weather permits.
I participate in two ministries through my church. The first is a Furniture Ministry, which picks up donated furniture and delivers it to those in need. The second involves spending time with the residents of an Alzheimer’s facility in Vernon Hills.
